She is also an Associate Member of the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) after completing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Alithea has also completed training in family violence, suicide and self-harm, grief and loss, attachment-based psychotherapy, multicultural counselling practices, and psychological first aid, among others.

Alithea is a compassionate and caring counsellor who believes in creating a safe and supportive environment for adults, couples, children, and families to facilitate their growth and healing. Her dedication to her clients is reflected in her integrated, inclusive and person-centred approach to therapy. She incorporates and utilises techniques from Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), Attachment-based psychotherapy, and the Mindfulness Perspective. Alithea finds particular joy in using these modalities for inner child work. Additionally, she has a growing interest in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and plans to pursue further training in this area.

Her commitment to her clients is notably rooted in her extensive career in the social service sector. She began working at a family service centre with a diverse clientele, including children, teenagers, young adults, and the elderly. She addressed various issues such as family violence, mental health concerns, parenting and caregiving challenges, and employment stress. Subsequently, her passion for connecting with young adults led her to the tertiary education sector, where she worked as a counsellor for undergraduate and graduate students at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and later at Singapore Management University (SMU). With over 7 years of experience, Alithea currently supports clients with a wide spectrum of concerns, including trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, stress related to adjustment, interpersonal issues, relationship challenges, and parenting difficulties.

Understanding firsthand the vulnerability and feeling of intimidation that therapy can entail, Alithea is committed to cultivating a warm and welcoming environment where clients from diverse backgrounds and identities feel valued, heard, and supported as they navigate paths to greater fulfilment.
